Primer is an online community for homeschoolers where kids run passion-building projects every day. This December, we're sharing our project planning toolkit so that any kid can use it to design a project inspired by their passions. In return, we're asking kids to submit proposals for ambitious projects they want to take on – we'll pick our ten favorite proposals and award up to $500 to 10 students to get them started.
Primer's mission is to help kids reach their potential — and an important part of that is helping them discover and grow their passions over time. We host art, science, coding, and storytelling clubs where kids do projects that help them find and grow their interests. Kids post frequent project updates, ask questions, give feedback, get feedback, and share their thoughts and progress.
Using our project planning guide, any kid can plan and budget a project around anything that interests them, whether or not it falls into one of those categories.
Experienced homeschoolers know that individual projects are more than fun! They can spark lifelong impact. We're inspired by people like Laura Deming, who worked for a top biology lab at 12 years old and became a Thiel Fellow at 16. Other homeschoolers who followed their passions include Billie and Finneas Eilish, whose parents allowed them to pour themselves into music, considering it a part of their education. The pair won 5 Grammy awards before Billie turned 18.
As your family looks ahead to the new year, help your kids develop both their creativity and planning skills by planning a new project together. Check out our project planning toolkit here – you can download it as a PDF, or duplicate and edit it in Google Docs.
Here's how it works.
In addition to giving up to $500 to each of the top 10 project proposals, we're also offering unlimited 3-month subscriptions to Primer to thoughtful applicants so that they can join communities of kids doing projects alongside one another and getting feedback and accountability.
You can find our toolkit here (or copy and paste https://withprimer.com/project-toolkit).
Kids can submit a project proposal here by 11:59 PM, December 20, 2020 wherever you live (or copy and paste https://withprimer.com/primer-grant).
We can't wait to see what you'll build!
Love,
Primer
